Recently, Arizona has been receiving a lot of heat for the immigration law SB 1070. The law orders immigrants to carry their alien registration documents at all times and requires police to question people if there's reason to suspect they're in the United States illegally.
The controversial legislature got the music community talking and Rage Against the Machine front-man, Zack De La Rocha, took matters into his own hands. Rocha has organized a musical boycott of Arizona called the The Sound Strike.
The Sound Strike is a movement asking artists to boycott Arizona as to not support an economy that enforces laws like SB 1070. Furthermore, participants are hoping that the movement will draw more national attention to the issue and inspire the Obama administration to take action.
The artists involved in the movement feel strongly that this bill promotes racial profiling and want the world to know about it. If you agree with Rocha and artists like Cypress Hill, Conor Oberst, Kanye West, Rise Against,Sonic Youth and Tenacious D you can go to www.thesoundstrike.net to sign a petition to stop SB 1070.
