The XX have gone from zero to hero in the past year. With the explosion of their first, self-entitled, album the band has established that they’re ‘it’ when it comes to billowing beats, synth tones and trumping baselines. They’re not the first to broach this genre of music, but right now they’re the best at it- and the crowds love it.
After their rush of fame, the band went on a gig-binge but with the kind of attention they’re receiving- a tour was in order. They just released dates and although they’re not covering all major cities they are covering most regions of the US.
The band will also be performing XX: A Sculpture of the Album, at the Creators Project launch in New York city. Creators summed up the project by explaining, “It shares sensibilities with art installations but it should not be considered in this context—it is in essence a physical music video, a looping shrine to the album that you cannot compress, send, or turn off.”
